The Australian Fishing & Outdoor Expo:

The history behind the Australian Fishing & Outdoor Expo.

The Australian Fishing & Outdoor Expo was formed in 2020 as the Regional Vic Fishing Expo and came about as a means to help promote our Aussie small back yard makers and small family owned businesses etc.

Being able to showcase their product to the masses at a cost effective price was a must as for most this was something done either via attending there local markets or online via social media, but this is limited with the only other option open to them been that they would have to attend one of your major city expos and given the sheer cost’s involved to do that, for the majority of your small business owners & back yard makers this was simply out of the question and that is why the Regional Vic Fishing Expo (RVFE for short) came about.

We held our very first expo under the Regional Vic Fishing Expo banner here in Horsham, Victoria with 16 exhibitors in 2022 (just after the Covid bans was lifted) in March and had around 1100 people attend over the 2 days.

After our first event & talking to the visitor’s and exhibitors alike whilst it was not big we did see the protentional and quickly realized that we could do so much more than just showcase Aussie handmade fishing products, in fact we realized that we could do an event that is truly unique by combining so many other facets to the expo whilst keeping fishing at the heart of our event. 

For a long time we felt it is just as important to be able to educate people on the current rules & regulations surrounding fishing, be it here in Victoria or any other Australian state an showcase some of the fantastic organizations around Australia that deals with fishing & the environment, include fishing organizations like the Victorian Fisheries Authority, VRFish, NSW maritime, Fishcare & Ozfish etc, for whom not only have a wealth of experience, but are also a wealth of knowledge when it comes to their specific roles within the fishing industry, whilst these organizations do hold their own individual events, there is no event that combines them all till now, this will include having key industry related guest speakers as well as holding both demonstrations and “how to” events from some of the leading industry experts.

Now please don’t be fooled by the name, The Australian Fishing & Outdoor Expo is so much more than just an event showcasing fishing & the outdoors, like our exhibitors and visitors alike that come from all around Australia and exhibit everything from freshwater to saltwater fishing products and everything in between. We also have exhibitors that showcase & sell camping gear, clothing, holiday destinations etc in short, The Australian Fishing & Outdoor Expo is about showcasing fishing & the great outdoors period.

What makes The Australian Fishing & Outdoor Expo different to most of the major expo’s held in Victoria or around Australia for that matter, is that unlike your normal big expos held in capital cities our expo does not charge the exhibitor a small fortune to have a site as we are fully aware that most of our exhibitors are small time back yard businesses or small family owned retailers or community groups etc. 

The Australian Fishing & Outdoor Expo will only grow bigger & bigger every year and with the support of not only the Australian fishing product makers and the public, but just as importantly as larger companies start to see the benefits and come on board, which in turn helps us keep the overall cost to exhibit down.
